Happy April everyone (with it, brings March’s newsletter). I, for one, am looking forward to the nicer weather and getting to spend less time cooped up indoors. I hope all of you who celebrated Passover or Easter this past weekend had a meaningful holiday. I had a busy month of Council in March, so please reach out with any questions or to discuss any pieces of legislation. County Council Highlights

ICE & CBP Cooperation Limitation (13809-26) - Allegheny County Council voted 11-3-1 to pass our ordinance limiting county employees from cooperating with ICE/CBP, and I was proud to be a co-sponsor and a yes vote (Adams, Filiaggi, and Walton voted no; Catena abstained.) This ordinance ensures county employees do not inquire about immigration status, share that information with federal agents, or allow ICE to use county databases or house detainees in our jail without a judicial warrant. It's about protecting our neighbors and making clear: Allegheny County will not be an arm of federal immigration enforcement and your local tax dollars will not be spent carrying out this administration's immoral actions on our community. Thank you to everyone who showed up to our meetings over the last two months, spoke out, and made their voices heard.

Air Pollution Control Advisory Committee Appointment (13845-26) - I was honored to be nominated by County Executive Innamorato and unanimously confirmed by my colleagues to serve on Allegheny County’s Air Pollution Control Advisory Committee for a term that runs through December 31, 2028. I look forward to bringing my background as a Chemical Engineer and experience in local industry to this role to help improve our local air quality.

Allegheny County Term Limits (13808-26) - I successfully passed an amendment that would place a 3-term limit for Allegheny County Council and the County row offices, matching that of the County Executive. The amendment passed by a vote of 11-2-1 (Walton and Futules voted no; Adams abstained). The bill is now in committee and will come in front of Council for a vote once it makes it out (likely at our next meeting). Because this is an amendment to the county charter, if we pass the bill, you will see the question on the ballot in the November election and get to decide whether you want term limits to be part of Allegheny County government.

I was honored to present a proclamation to Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Queen and Mt. Lebanon resident, Molly McKenna as part of County Council’s celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

Around District 5

Pittsburgh’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is one of the best in the country, and I always have a blast marching, handing out candy, and celebrating Irish heritage!

I was given the privilege of speaking at this month’s “No Kings” rally in Mt. Lebanon. During my speech, I reaffirmed my promise to always work for the interests of the people of District 5 who put me in office, not the billionaire class.
